Council announces Agriculture Forum for local farmers

Hepburn Shire Council, in collaboration with Agriculture Victoria, is pleased to announce the inaugural Agriculture Forum to assist Hepburn Shire farmers engage in vital discussions surrounding biosecurity, planning, and emergency management.  The forum is scheduled for 9:30am on September 22 at Doug Lindsay Reserve in Creswick.

Mayor Cr Brian Hood said that the Shire’s farming community was a vital part of the local economy.

“We invite all local farmers to join us for a day of knowledge sharing and collaboration. The forum is a testament to Council’s commitment to supporting their growth and resilience.”

“The forum will be an important opportunity to connect with fellow farmers, gain valuable insights for agricultural businesses, and contribute to the future planning of our rural communities,” said Cr Brian Hood.

The Agriculture Forum aims to provide farmers with information from local and state government representatives and will serve as a platform for updates on crucial topics, including:

  • Biosecurity - Enhancing emergency animal disease preparedness, ensuring the protection of our valuable livestock and crops.
  • Planning Advisory Services -Providing valuable insights and advice on rural planning to support the growth and sustainability of our agricultural enterprises.
  • Rural Hepburn Strategy - Sharing updates and progress on the Rural Hepburn Strategy, a blueprint for the future of our rural communities.
  • Seasonal Climate Patterns - Discussing the latest insights into seasonal climate patterns, helping farmers make informed decisions.

In addition to these informative sessions, the Agriculture Forum presents opportunities to engage directly with various Council teams. These teams can provide support and guidance in areas such as emergency management, sustainability, economic development, and other key aspects of agricultural businesses.
