Sustainable Hepburn Day

Hosting an annual Sustainable Hepburn event is a commitment of the Sustainable Hepburn Strategy (2022-2026), intended to bring together the many groups and individuals the make Hepburn a sustainable Shire to provide updates on progress, build capacity and knowledge, and celebrate our successes.

The first Sustainable Hepburn Day was held in October 2022 in Trentham to launch the strategy and the second was held in March 2024 at the Daylesford Showgrounds. Both were well attended events that received lots of positive feedback from participants.

Sustainable Hepburn Day Out (the March 2024 event) was attended by an estimated 700 people and 48 stallholders, featuring a program of workshops, music, food, art-making and a treasure hunt along with other kid friendly activities.

The event was spread across four villages designed to reflect the four pillars of action in the Sustainable Hepburn Strategy – Beyond Zero Emissions, Climate Resilience, Nature and Biodiversity and Low Waste, with a focus on Circular Economy and textiles in the centre.

Sustainable Hepburn Day Out was a low-waste event, featuring a Wash Against Waste Trailer avoiding all disposable crockery and cutlery, as well as four bins separating food waste, cans, mixed recycling and landfill.

The Sustainable Hepburn Community Advisory Committee and the Hepburn Z-NET Steering Group members were involved as volunteers on the day and did a lot to support the design and delivery of this special event.

A list of stallholders is provided below, as well as a link to the program, and slideshow of photographs from the day. Stay tuned for plans for 2025!
