Hepburn Libraries will again be running NGV Kids on Tour 2025 over the Summer School Holiday period.

Make and create when NGV Kids on Tour comes to you these school holidays. From cat and dog ears you can wear, to flower pompoms and paper moths – there’s art to make for every age.

Fashion, Culture and Creativity with Collective Closets

Create a paper doll with its own wardrobe.  Mix and match paper clothes and accessories to make endless creative outfits while learning about fashion, design, colour and pattern from the African continent.

What is the Big Summer Read?

The BIG Summer Read is open to anyone ages 0-18. It aims to encourage children to read for pleasure and addresses the issue of the 'summer slide'. This refers to the loss of literacy experienced over the long summer break if children are not exposed to books or reading.

How do I sign up?

  • Collect a sign-up pack from your local library
  • Register online at Readbooks.com.au

What will we offer?

  • A sign-up pack: Reading journal, colouring page, chatterbox activity sheet, swap card log
  • A small prize for each 5 books entered on the paper copy reading journal &/or log them on ReadBooks app  - QR code available at your local library
  • In library activities: Character hunt, colouring pages
  • Chance to earn a complete BSR swap card set of 12 cards
  • End of BSR celebration: Each site will hold a small celebration where participants will receive their certificate and a free book will be gifted to any child that has read at least 10 books
  • If participants log via Readbooks.com.au, they will go into a statewide prize draw (Book packs from James Bennett).
