Rural communities to be hit hardest by “dreadfully unfair” new levy

A revamped Victorian Government emergency services levy is set to rip $140 million from rural communities annually according to a new analysis, prompting urgent calls for the tax to be scaled back.

Leaked report on Hepburn Hub at The Rex Project

Hepburn Shire Council acknowledges the apparently unauthorised release of the Local Government Inspectorate (LGI) draft report on the Hepburn Hub at The Rex project. The draft report concerns an investigation of the management of the project which proposed to convert an art deco shopping arcade (Rex Theatre) on the main street of Daylesford into a community facility.

Victorian Government releases “Plan for Victoria”

Rate cap variation sought to ensure ﬁnancial sustainability

Hepburn Shire Council is seeking approval for a higher rate cap for the 2025/26 ﬁnancial year to secure its long-term ﬁnancial future. The proposal, which has recently been submitted to the Essential Services Commission (ESC) aligns with the Financial Vision 2024-2027, which was endorsed at the Special Council Meeting on 10 September 2024.
