Tender awarded for Hammon Park trailhead

At the meeting last night, a tender to construct the Hammon Park Trailhead was awarded to NaturForm for the sum of $1,931,709 (ex GST). This project will deliver a community space at Hammon Park which includes additional parking, nature play, cycling jumps course, learn to ride circuit, shaded seating area, water bubbler and cycle wash area.
Mayor, Cr Tim Drylie said that once constructed, the facility also known as the Hammon Park Community and Youth Hub, will also serve as the trailhead for the future Creswick Trails network.
“The improvements being made at Hammon Park are much anticipated and will activate this space for people of all ages. The community is very excited to see this project go ahead.”
“We look forward to working with this experienced contractor on a project that will transform this site into a well-used and activated recreational space,” said Cr Drylie.
In September 2020, Council adopted a masterplan for the Hammon Park Trailhead. Council was awarded a $2.1 million grant for construction from Sport and Recreation Victoria through the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program in March 2021.
The masterplan for the site is available at https://participate.hepburn.vic.gov.au/creswick-trails-project-hammon-park-trailhead. The trailhead will complement the Creswick Trails, where a planning permit for the 60km network of mountain bike trails as part of the Creswick Trails was issued on 25 January 2022. This is a significant milestone for the project that Council has been working toward for more than two years. Council must secure land manager Consent to Construct before construction can begin, most elements required for Consent to Construct are complete; others have required a Planning Permit to finalise. Council expects to go to tender for construction in 2022.
