Shining a light on extraordinary local women

Each year, Hepburn Shire Council takes pride in paying tribute to remarkable women through the Heather Mutimer Honour Roll, as part of International Women’s Day.
Since its inception in 2005, remarkable, courageous and inspirational women from all walks of life, past and present, have been recognised as part of the Honour Roll.
Nominations are now open for the 2022 recipients so it’s the perfect opportunity to nominate yourself or someone in your life - and your community - who deserves to be acknowledged and publicly recognised.
The Heather Mutimer Honour Roll was established to pay tribute to the women in the Hepburn Shire whose community contributions, courage and examples of selflessness have led to significant social change for women, according to Mayor, Cr Leslie Hewitt.
“Each year as part of International Women’s Day, successful inductees are announced and added to the Honour Roll. The roll provides a forum to acknowledge women who have made a difference in our Shire,” she said.
“The past couple of years have been incredibly difficult for so many people but women of all ages in our community have continued to inspire, advocate, volunteer their time and lead by example. We honour people past and present and this year we also want to encourage nominations to highlight some of our remarkable younger women in the shire.”
Cr Hewitt said by acknowledging these women, past and present, they become role models for generations to come.
If you would like to nominate a wonderful woman you know, please visit Council’s website to access the nomination forms at https://hepburn.smartygrants.com.au/IWD2022.
For those who would like a hand with the nomination applications, members of Council’s Heather Mutimer Honour Roll Committee will gladly help.
Nominations close 8 November 2021. Successful inductees will be announced at an International Women’s Day Civic Function in March.
