Hepburn Shire Council is calling on the community to nominate a worthy local citizen or group who has made a significant contribution to our Shire as part of Council’s annual Community Awards. Danny Moynihan who was awarded Citizen of the Year in 2022 said the awards recognised the contribution that he had made having called Daylesford his home for 38 years.
“It was a great honour to be recognised. My late wife Rozanne Moynihan received the International Women’s Day award posthumously in 2019 and I felt like we were being awarded alongside each other,” said Mr Moynihan. Mr Moynihan said that the award highlighted his commitment to the community since moving to Daylesford in 1984 to run the post office.
“I’ve almost been here long enough to call myself a local,” he joked. “We have seen lots of comings and goings. You get what you put in and if you don’t enjoy what you are doing then you don’t do it.” Mr Moynihan said he was most excited to see the ChillOut Festival grow into a such a big event.
“There has been some great work performed across a range of groups to help people in the community. It is now time to recognise the outstanding job of members of a long-standing community organisation or perhaps someone from the CFA,” he said.
