Hepburn Shire Council CEO Evan King has resigned from Hepburn Shire Council to take up the role of CEO at the City of Ballarat.
Mayor Cr Lesley Hewitt said Mr King's departure will be a loss for the Shire, but extremely positive for the region.
"On behalf of Councillors and community, I would like to congratulate Evan on his appointment to his new role and wish him all the very best.
"Evan has been an active and productive CEO of our shire and he will be missed by not only councillors and the organisation, but by many in the community," said Cr Hewitt.
"Evan and the executive team have been a wonderful support for all the new councillors since last year's election.
"While we are sad to be losing him to the City of Ballarat, it is a great appointment for the region and also for our shire, as we work with the City of Ballarat in many ways. Having Evan there can only help us further strengthen our already strong partnership," said Cr Hewitt.
She said council would consider its options as to who leads the organisation while recruiting a new CEO.
Mr King said he had thoroughly enjoyed his time with Hepburn Shire Council and looks forward to continuing to be involved with the Hepburn community through the joint work of Ballarat and Hepburn councils.
"Hepburn is a wonderful and engaged community and I sincerely appreciate the time I have had her working with the community, various organisations and council to help continue making Hepburn Shire the best it can be.
"It is never easy to make the move to another organisation, however the CEO role at the City of Ballarat is an incredible opportunity for me and one I am excited about.
"Hepburn Shire and the City of Ballarat not only share a border but an interest in a wide range of areas and I am excited that, through my next position, I can play a significant role in the future of the region."
