How can Council support positive ageing? That’s the question asked by Hepburn Shire Council, who is embarking on the development of its very first Positive Ageing Strategy.
Positive ageing is the process of maintaining a positive attitude, feeling good about yourself, keeping fit and healthy and fully engaging in life as you age. There are many factors at play, and Council is seeking to find out from people aged 55 years + how they feel about ageing positively.
“Older people give so much to our Shire in respect to supporting others, working, volunteering, bringing richness to our community and so much more. Our Positive Ageing Strategy will explore what Council can do in partnership with local groups and agencies to support people to have a positive experience of getting older,” said Mayor, Cr Tim Drylie.
“We have launched a survey to find out how people in Hepburn Shire are experiencing ageing. What are the challenges they faced, their concerns, what is working well and any support they might need to improve their experience of getting older,” said Cr Drylie.
“We invite you to help us to develop the strategy and ensure that it addresses the real issues that people face as they age. Your input will help to inform our work towards an age-friendly community for all.” Complete a survey online at https://participate.hepburn.vic.gov.au/positive-ageing or collect a copy from your local library or Council hub.
Council staff will host pop-in sessions where you can have a chat with staff about your experiences or ideas. Pop-in sessions will be held:
