A public survey on Central Springs Reserve in Daylesford has highlighted a range of improvement ideas for the well-loved community destination.

Hepburn Shire CEO, Bradley Thomas, said he was really pleased with the feedback from community members.

“Thank you to those in the community for providing your feedback on this much-loved community asset. It will help inform the masterplan development,” said Mr Thomas.

Forty respondents participated in the survey earlier this year.

Here’s what they said:

• The best attributes of the reserve are the shade trees, operational mineral springs, grassed open space and access to shelter.

• People visit the reserve for solo relaxation or reflection, to socialise with family and friends, and for exercise.

• They would like Council to improve the appearance, improve access into the reserve and throughout, add more seating, and better cater for older people and those with accessibility needs.

• Ideally there would be improvements to the appearance and presentation of the mineral spring pumps, shelter and park furniture, along with more trees and vegetation.

Council is working to incorporate this feedback into a draft masterplan for the reserve.

The draft plan will include items such as proposed plantings, furniture, focus areas, signage and more.

The draft plan will be open for community input in mid-July.
