Designs and artistic renders have been developed for the Daylesford Community Facilities project, and Council is seeking the community’s feedback on the initial design.
The project seeks to deliver a library, customer experience hub and multipurpose community facilities on the Daylesford Town Hall site. The library and multipurpose community facilities will be housed in a new construction on the site of the existing Senior Citizens’ building while the customer experience hub will be located on the ground floor of the historic Town Hall. Visitors will be able to access the new facility from Vincent Street and a new accessible, landscaped pathway from Bridport Street.
Mayor, Cr Don Henderson, said the project will reinvigorate the Town Hall and provide a welcoming and cohesive space for Daylesford community services.
“The Town Hall is at the centre of Daylesford, and this project will see it restored and upgraded. The facility will feature multiple community spaces along with a new library and entry point from Bridport Street. We will work hard to see this project realised by seeking funding from both state and federal governments,” said Cr Don Henderson.
“The Project Advisory Group, Council Officers and architects have worked together on the design that looks to provide for multiple community uses in an accessible and innovative way. We are looking forward to receiving further feedback from the wider community during the engagement period,” said Cr Don Henderson.
A community engagement period will run from Monday 10 March to Sunday 13 April. During this time, the community can access engagement materials on the Participate Hepburn website, or from Council’s libraries and customer experience hubs. Community members can discuss the project in-person with Council officers or members of the PAG at any of the three scheduled drop-in sessions:
The project commenced in December 2023 with a Council resolution to investigate the provision of a library and multipurpose community facilities on the site of the Daylesford Town Hall.
In early 2024, project architect k20 were appointed and shortly after, a Project Advisory Group (PAG) of community members was established. Since that time, Council Officers, the architect and the PAG have moved through a feasibility study and progressed to the schematic design phase.
Roofing and electrical works continue at the Daylesford Town Hall. These works are ensuring the building’s longevity and safety ahead of the future works to deliver enhanced community facilities on the site.
Council will seek significant funding contributions from state and federal governments to progress this project to construction. Find out more about the project on the Participate Hepburn website.
