Council’s 2024/25 Christmas and New Year’s operational arrangements

Christmas closure

Residents and visitors can stay connected with Hepburn Shire Council during the holiday season using emergency contact numbers and online resources.

“The holiday season is a special time for our community, from increased tourist visitation to families gathering together for celebrations,” Chief Executive Officer, Bradley Thomas said.

“It is also a special time for our dedicated staff, with arrangements in place to ensure they can also enjoy this memorable time of year with their loved ones.”

Some key changes during the Christmas-New Year period:

  • Council’s offices, depots, hubs and libraries will close at 5pm on Monday 23 December (Daylesford Library will close at 5:30pm) and reopen as usual on Thursday 2 January.
  • Transfer Stations will be open as usual but will be closed on Wednesday 25 December (Christmas Day).
  • There will be no bin collections on Wednesday 25 December. Bins will be collected on Thursday 26 December.
  • Bin collections scheduled for Thursday 26 and Friday 27 December may be delayed by 24 hours.
  • There will be no bin collections on Wednesday 1 January. Bins will be collected on Thursday 2 January.
  • Bin collections scheduled for Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January may be delayed by 24 hours.
  • Visitor Information Centres (VICs) will continue to welcome visitors throughout the holiday season, with some closures. All VICs will be closed on Christmas Day but open on New Year’s Day.
  • Pools close on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. All other updates regarding pool hours can be found on Council’s pools webpage.

Key staff will be on call to assist with emergencies.
