On Thursday 17 April, the new AFL oval and netball court lighting at Victoria Park, Daylesford was officially switched on with the help of Mary-Anne Thomas MP.
The Daylesford Football Netball Club, which calls Victoria Park home, is set to benefit from competition standard lighting levels with the oval lighting now sitting at 100 lux level LED, 30 metres high, and the netball court lighting now sitting at 200 lux level LED, 10 metres high.
Mayor, Cr Don Henderson, said that the upgrade is a great outcome for the community.
“The lighting upgrade will greatly benefit both the Daylesford Football Netball Club as well as our active locals,” said Cr Henderson.
“Sport plays a vital role in our community and by upgrading our facilities we can ensure that our clubs remain competitive and dynamic. The new LED lighting aims to prioritise player safety and increase programming opportunities for the club,” said Cr Henderson.
The Daylesford Football & Netball Sports Lighting Upgrade Project was made possible by $250,000 funding through the Victorian Government’s 2023-2024 Country Football and Netball Program, and contributions from Daylesford Football Netball Club and Council.
The club anticipates being able to host night games as well as expand their team training sessions and development programs.
